Airiel (Record release show)
Airiel (Record release show)
Molten Young Lovers is the title of Airiel's upcoming LP, the first since 2007's The Battle of Sealand. Previously, the group released the Kid Games EP on Shelflife, as well as the (now sold out) Winks & Kisses vinyl set. Unlike the Kid Games EP, these songs were written and developed in live settings before recording them in the studio, calling to the strengths of each band member's creative technique. Utilizing a number of Chicago studios, producer Adam Stilson helped to shape the material into the classic Airiel that you know and love-it's loud, it's pretty, and you can dance to it.
Bloody Knives
Bloody Knives
Bloody Knives is based in Austin, Texas consisting of Preston Maddox (bass, voice, keyboards, samples, programming), Jake McCown (Drums, noise, programming, art). The band combines the sounds of heavy punk and industrial with blurry ambient electronics, shoegaze atmospherics, and 8-bit glitches and melodies.
Rented Rooms (7" record release show)
Hailing from the Midwest, Rented Rooms started when Rich Fessler of Bear Claw reached out to Chris Metcalf of The Life and Times after he moved to Chicago from Kansas City to see if he wanted to start a band together. After Rich and Chris hashed out ideas for a bit Scott Picco was added into the fold on bass. Taking influence of 90's midwest rock and elements of shoegaze, Rented Rooms takes it's sound in it's own direction.
New Canyons
New Canyons
Chicago's NEW CANYONS deliver their extremely likeable take on melodramatic, icy synth pop. The duo has been dominating the Windy City since their album, Everyone is Dark (too true). A little electronic mixed with a little shoegaze.
