ACTORS
ACTORS
From Vancouver, Canada, ACTORS electrify with a modern take on post-punk. On debut full-length It Will Come to You, anthemic songs evoke the urgency of early-80’s U2 (Boy, October, War) as well as the driving, synth drenched scores that emanated from the era’s movie screens. As scene authority Post-Punk.com puts it, the band conjures “cinematic new-wave… that belongs on a Michael Mann soundtrack.”

Frontman Jason Corbett’s rich vocals command with all the passion of a young Bono and the coolness of Peter Murphy. Songs like “L’appel du Vide,” “Slaves,” “Face Meets Glass,” and “Bury Me” are bangers that glisten via Corbett’s production job: slamming beats propel warm layers of synth, guitar, and vocals. Corbett writes, produces, mixes, and masters all ACTORS music at his own Vancouver studio, Jacknife Sound.

ACTORS has toured in the USA, Canada, and Europe, and performed at Terminus Festival 2017, 2018 (Calgary), Out From the Shadows Festival 2018 (Portland), and Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2018 (Leipzig), with upcoming festival appearances at Infest 2018 (Manchester), A Murder of Crows 2018 (Brooklyn), and Cold Waves 2018 (NYC, Chicago and Los Angeles).
Bootblacks
Bootblacks
Brooklyn-based post-punk band Bootblacks have been dazzling the world with their powerful live performances since their inception in 2010. In 2018 they added festivals Wave Gotik Treffen, A Murder Of Crows & Return to the Batcave to their impressive résumé of past shows. They’re the perfect package- punchy records, compelling imagery, unstoppable live energy, and a delicious shroud of mystery surrounding their craft.

Their latest record FRAGMENTS is a meditation on life and loss, set to a darkwave backdrop. Over the course of eight tracks, the band expands of their already eclectic sonic territory, combining the dancefloor edge of Xymox with the anthemic power of early U2. Guitarist Alli Gorman channels the trademark delay techniques of The Edge and The Chameleons to cut through the heavy synth arpeggios, courtesy of Barrett Hiatt, while Panther Macdonald’s vocals and lyrics are both biting and introspective. Every track on Fragments is vital, especially the Pretty Hate Machine-esque “Memory Palace”, the reflective and beautiful “For You (Lois)”and closing track “Gone”, which mixes the throb of early 90’s electronica with the bleak saxophone drenched vibes of David Bowie’s Berlin trilogy.
The Bellwether Syndicate
The Bellwether Syndicate
Formed in 2012, THE BELLWETHER SYNDICATE is fronted by veteran artist William Faith (vocals/guitars), and Sarah Rose Faith (vocals/guitars). While the studio recordings are made by William and Sarah alone, the live lineup includes Paul Sin (bass) and Philly Peroxide (keyboards/percussion). The band have always sought to color outside of prescribed genre lines, endeavoring to push past the boundaries of style into something substantial and vital. Released in 2013, The Night Watch EP was supported by a string of dates both domestic and abroad, culminating in the band delivering a celebrated performance at Germany’s storied Wave-Gotik-Treffen festival.
