The Kepi-rights
The Kepi-rights
The Copyrights and Kepi Ghoulie have been a mutual admiration society for years now, being friends and fans of each others art... They have been playing punk/rock !shows and fests together (like Florida's FEST or Baltimore's Insubordination Fest) so it only makes sense that they would eventually team up in the studio and the result is "Re-Animation Festival", a rocking' reimagining of a classic Groovie Ghoulies production!
The album is getting a great reception and the two artists are heading to Europe for a tour this summer, this will be your chance (and possibly America's only chance this year)to catch them rock together like this as they prepare to hit the road! The format will be something loosely like this: A solo Kepi acoustic set followed by Dan Vapid & The Cheats! Then the Copyrights will tear through a set of their original tunes! The night will culminate with a super jam of selections from the new release and a handful of classic Kepi/Groovie Ghoulies classics!”
The Copyrights
The Copyrights
The Copyrights play a stripped-down version of pop-punk in the tradition of fellow Illinois bands like Screeching Weasel and the Methadones, with old-school punk and pop influences ranging from the Ramones and the Undertones to Sound Affects-vintage Jam and the first couple of Cheap Trick albums.

Formed in the small southern Illinois city of Carbondale (much closer to St. Louis, MO, than Chicago) in 2002, the Copyrights originally consisted of bassist and primary lead singer Adam Fletcher, guitarists/vocalists Brett Hunter and Ken Clifford, and drummer Luke McNeill. Signed to the Washington, D.C., indie Insubordination Records, the Copyrights released their debut album, We Didn't Come Here to Die (produced by Illinois pop-punk legend Mass Giorgini), in 2003. It was subsequently followed by two EPs, 2004's Button Smasher and 2005's Nowhere Near Chicago (both through It's Alive Records). Replacing the departed Clifford with new guitarist Nick O'Neil, the Copyrights returned with their second album, Mutiny Pop, in May 2006. Not wasting any time, various shows followed before the guys (now with Jeff Funburg on board in place of O'Neil) were back in the studio by the start of 2007 to commence recording their next album; Make Sound surfaced that spring via Red Scare.

Kepi
Kepi
Kepi is a genius. This ex-Groovie Ghoulies frontman is KEEPIN’ IT REAL, with his all new band, Kepi The Band. He’s been on tour for like 12 years straight. If you see them play and don’t like them, then you must hate fun. The terrorists win.
